“Every day is a grind. You’re trying to balance it all, family, a career, a social calendar and your health. Even on weekends, chores and obligations abound. You wish you had more time to slow down and enjoy the treasures of the Inland Northwest.”

Old Barn Blooms was born of my own need to spend more time in nature. A passion for dahlias began in my early twenties and quickly blossomed into an obsession. With two tiny flower beds on a city lot in Spokane, my mission to grow and share dahlias evolved into the sprawling farm we enjoy today. Aided by my ever-supportive (and very handy, as it turns out!) husband, I continue to cultivate and share these exquisite flowers. Our property rests on a bygone wheat farm of several hundred acres and reminders of the land’s storied past surround us. A favorite relic is our namesake barn, which was built by the family that homesteaded here. The beloved ‘Old Barn’ is just one of many inspiring reminders of the profound legacy and bounty of this land.

The farm is a place of peace and we’d love to share it with you. Grab a fresh bouquet for your kitchen table, or grow your own beautiful flowers with tubers straight from the farm. Learn about all of our offerings right here!

“Careful land stewardship is at the forefront of our mission. We believe in caring for our farm’s ecosystems from the largest down to the microscopic.”

At Old Barn Blooms we don’t talk about sustainability because it’s catchy. Instead, we farm with the well-being of you and our planet in mind. Native American tribes cared for our land before us and we honor their legacy by focusing on minimal impacts and preserving the beauty of the land for future inhabitants. Here are a few of the things we do to ensure our products are of top quality and ethically sound.

  • We use a no-till system which ensures minimal soil disturbance thus maintaining healthy flora and fauna in our soils and preventing the emission of carbon dioxide into our environment.

  • No synthetic chemicals are used on our farm. We refrain from using all traditional herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers.

  • A direct watering system reduces water waste.

  • Organic mulches protect and feed our soils while also preventing topsoil erosion and water run-off.

  • All of our products come directly from our land. All flowers and greens are “grown, not flown” which reduces our collective environmental impact.

  • Our production does not exploit the cheap labor force of most flower-producing nations.

These practices ensure you receive the freshest, highest quality dahlia tubers and cut flowers. When you purchase flowers from us you are supporting the local economy, the environment and turning away from the social injustices embedded in traditional floral production. Have questions? We have a passion for sustainable farming, and would be happy to talk to you more.
